Of symmetrical ovoid form finished with a straight neck and rolled lip,
decorated on the surface of the shoulders with an incised comb pattern and
a natural ash glaze showing vivid green where it pools on the shoulder and
drips down one side, the lower body with darker patches

Edo period (1615-1868), late 17th century
The shallow lobed dish set on a low ring foot molded on the interior with
Hotei poling a riverboat with rocky mountains in the distance, a poetic
stanza in underglaze cobalt blue, the rim covered in brown iron oxide, the
underside with four spur marks and a stylized fuku (happiness) mark
