A CLOISONNÉ-ENAMEL KOGO (INCENSE BURNER)
Meiji era (1868-1912), circa 1890
Of compressed ovoid form on tripod feet, worked in silver wire and colored
enamels decorated with a band of stylized phoenixes and flowering vines
on a black ground, above a narrow geometric floral band, and lappet panels
containing dragon medallions alternating with phoenixes in flowering vines
on a ground of aventurine surrounded by a mustard-yellow background, the
shoulder with key frets below a zig-zag pattern on the rim, the dome cover
decorated with chrysanthemum heads and clouds on a mustard ground,
the finial formed as a chrysanthemum bud

A tomei jippo cloisonné-enamel vase
Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th century
The vase with wide shoulders quickly tapering to a narrow cylindrical
body, flaring near the base and tapering again at the foot, engraved on a
616 silver substrate with open and closed fans floating on a stream against a
hammered stippled ground and covered in transparent red enamel, the rims
silvered metal, seal form on the underside Takuho with the stamped mark of
the Kumeno workshop
