                                                                A BRONZE CIRCULAR ‘LION AND GRAPEVINE’ MIRROR
                                                                Tang Dynasty
                                                                Crisply cast with a central knop in the shape of a crouching lion,
                                                                encircled by four further lions, all amidst scrolling grapevine, the outer
                                                                circle with further grapevine interspersed with birds in various poses,
                                                                all surrounded by a small trefoil border, all covered in a lustrous dark
                                                                patina, wood stand.

           Probably Imperial, the twin-horned beasts modelled with arched backs,
           the heads turned to the reverse and tails flicked upwards, with flame

                                                                Ming/Qing Dynasty
                                                                The first of peach form, with reticulated matching cover; the second
                                                                a ding-type, standing on three tall lion feet, with matching cover;
                                                                the third of compressed globular form; the last standing on four tall
                                                                bamboo legs, with paired bamboo handles, the reticulated cover with
                                                                deer finial seated on bamboo. The peach: 28cm (11in) long (7).
