Add the finishing detail work to the picture after walking away and giving it some time to rest. When you come back with a fresh perspective, you'll be able to see easily where adjustments need to be made. Expect to add some depth in the darkest shadows, soften up distracting lines, and clarify spots that are vague when seen from a normal viewing distance. The finishing work should be done by constantly stepping back from the piece and seeing how everything balances from a few feet back. Page 17 of 37
