Taking my time and not really thinking about it I was
pretty proud of my accomplishment.
It’s kind of funny that way when your on the Mississip-
pi River and everyone’s telling NOT TO BRING
SOMETHING and then you go and use one of those
items they told you not to bring…….,
Chuckling to myself I got to thinking, I wonder how
many people going down the miss added a hatchet to
their list.
Obstacles, set backs, failures, I had more than my fair share of them according to what other
people said and looking over my life I knew they didn’t always appear to accomplish anything
or I overcame all of them. No, in fact some kicked my butt……, but I kept on and on.
On and on was going to be a mantra soon enough I had a long ways to go and already I had en-
countered things I never expected on this River.
What seemed to be a pattern now, or just my dumb luck, but as soon as I thought I was going
to get to paddle there up around the bend, I had encountered a tree and conquered. It had a few
trees there but just one I needed to clear and so I did.
Unfortunately I was back to dragging my boats once again….
