It wasn’t as if I minded Rock Gardens in
the creek bed, but did everything have to
happen “up around the bend?’
I had just finished cutting up a tree, then I
was back to dragging my kayak, yes, it’s
a real drag.
Then just enough straight away and deep
enough I decide to get back in the boat,
when lo and behold another bend in the
river and Viola!! Another obstacle.
A Rock Garden.
OK OK I DID SAY I CAME TO THE
MISSISSIPPI RIVER TO LEARN HOW
TO KAYAK.
This section just seemed to have it all
packed into a nice tight little package.
I imagine this was a rapids section when
enough water was here, but this time I
was Dragging/Floating the Kayaks with
me walking.
UP AROUND THE BEND I found water
again and stopped long enough to get
some food and drink as it seemed to be
getting hot in the sun. and I knew after
eating I could paddle.
Just then I had my first guest as I was sit-
ting out of my boat looking at the bend
eating a PJ. (sandwich that is)
A canoe came around the bend sideways
and sat for a second or two straddled
across the river.
If I hadn’t been so glad to see someone I
might have thought this funny.
