STRANDED KAYAKS
It shouldn't have been this hard. The weather had said cloudy with slight chance of snow but
nothing had said winds this strong. Earlier with snow it was warmer, but this wind was in my
face. It was colder than snow, it had to be. Temps had kept falling recently. I was concerned.
My nose hairs would freeze in Alaska when it was below 30 so this had to be far worse. The
wind only howled louder. I still had plenty of time to make this bend and with a crosswind I
could easily make the curve to have the wind at my back and get out of this flat to some shel-
ter somewhere.
Open and exposed to the North Wind like this I had to get shelter soon.
If the wind would just let up, some of these gust had to be 30 or 40, the first attempt to use
open water spun me with gusts so it had to be high wind event.
Zig Out and Zig In, take the distance the weather gives me.
Ok lets do it again, Zig Out, Zig in…..
WHAT THE HELLL…...and a massive gust shoved “kayakanoe” sideways into the muddy
bank almost causing a rollover. Bracing had worked but…..
