WOW, what difference a few feet make.
I had angled toward the north till coming
out from the shelter of the ridge line when
I hit wind again.
In no uncertain terms I rediscovered the
north wind blowing and while it was not
strong yet, I had a sneaky suspicion those
fast moving clouds I had seen when down
river a ways and protected, meant now
that I was heading north again I would
probably hit some wind.
As long as the wind didn’t hit too hard the
only time it really bothered me was when
heading due north directly into the wind
and not perpendicular to it.
At an angle it wasn’t bad and the Missis-
sippi River complied by weaving back
and forth, but the curves were getting
larger and straight aways longer.
As soon as I thought it wasn’t too bad and
rounded a curve, I got hit full frontal with
rain on a gust that had come up.
Rain started coming at me sideways as
the wind on the east side was increasingly
strong and the west let up some.
About the time the rain stopped I found a
ridge line that paralleled the channel and
while there it was almost like having no
wind.
Until I went up around the bend
again…….
