Looking ahead I could see evergreens dead ahead on the horizon to the east of me. On my left
the ridge was obvious as the channel traveled close to it and sheltered with evergreens. To my
right and south were evergreens and the channel often wound back and forth ever eastward un-
til a slow grade seemed to be turning me northward.
With no wind paddling was easy, though cool and over cast. I was hoping the clouds would
break and clear up.
Cooler weather made for better paddling as it was a way to stay warm and keep warm as the
weather seemed unseasonably cool. All my gear seemed wet or damp from last night and I re-
ally had to stop sooner or later and get a handle on this ‘dew thing’ that seemed to be plaguing
me inside and out of the tent.
Didn’t seem to matter everything kept getting wet and on days when there was no sunshine,
nothing dried out really but remained damp until dried and stored.
Acclimating was one thing, dramatic weather drops were another.
This was Spring right?
