(Because of purist from the Missouri River we have chosen HeadWaters to GulfWaters as a
more accurate title since Mississippi River Paddlers do not start at the actual source, but are

like most of us, accepting the lake as a starting place.)

My Mississippi River Run was 128 days.

120 days camped out on the Mississippi River.

2320 miles paddling including backwaters.

Nothing I planned on or was told turned out to be accurate.

So in the end I relied on local information and people I met on the river

because as Mark Twain commented,

I found held true to this day:

“facts I encountered had no relationship to the conjecture I was given”
