Academics

This past year has been quite the ride, and the SLO has had an essential role in

making our final year as productive and exciting as it could get. Working together as

co-heads in the Academics Department has taught us many valuable lessons and has

helped us become responsible and conscientious people. With the various projects

we carried out, not only were we able to help students that needed it the most, but we

have also been able to better ourselves.

The Academics Department is a crucial division in the SLO: it focuses on keeping

students’ grades at high levels. In order to achieve, our attention was mainly placed

on PrepList. Many students view the PrepList as some tedious task, so we decided to

try and incorporate some fun into it. As a result, we planned a competition for the

grade sevens, in which the class with the most completed PrepList questions would

win and be rewarded with a pizza party. Other projects we organized this year were

the SAT study sessions and mock tests, which a lot of students found extremely

                     beneficial.

In the midst of our projects and the events, unforgettable friendships were built with

various people in our department, as well as within the SLO as a whole. We can safely

say that we formed relationships based on trust and mutual respect. The moment

someone had an interesting idea in mind, another person was already thinking of how

to carry this idea forward. Having been in the Academics Department for so many

                     years, we understand that getting the best grades isn’t the only thing that matters;

what is equally important is our mission to help all students become well-rounded,

                     knowledgeable individuals.

Finally, we would like to thank Mr. Halim, Mr. Marc, and Mr. Alex for pushing us even

when we felt like the odds were against us. Your help and guidance will never be

forgotten and we are grateful to have worked with you in our final year of high school.
