2.3 The Twelve Pillars
The twelve pillars were introduced in 1992 based on the idea put
forward by the Secretary of State, Tun Ahmad Sarji bin Abdul
Hamid, regarding the concept of values, norms and ethics during
the opening ceremony of the Seminar on Values and Ethics on
2 March 1992.
The twelve pillars are guidelines, examples of values and
ethics, and best practices that must be practiced. The
twelve pillars are as follows:

ii e success of perseverance viii e virtue of patience
iii e dignity of simplicity ix e improvement of talent
iv e worth of character x e in uence of examples
v e power of kindness xi e pleasure of working
vi e obligation of duty xii e joy of originating
