Coaching
Its appraisal time and so you will be discussing
your objectives and KPIs with your manager.
Coaching can be an effective tool to achieving
these goals.
Coaching is about developing a person’s skills and knowledge
so that their job performance improves, hopefully leading
to the achievement of organisational objectives. Coaching
targets high performance and improvement at work, although
it may also have an impact on an individual’s private life. It
usually lasts for a short period and focuses on specific skills
Use coaching for:
Solving problems and challenges
Improving performance for career advancement
Developing and achieving new skills and long-term goals
Coaching is not therapy, counselling, mentoring nor training.
Coaching uses some of the same communication processes,
however coaching is related to creativity, performance and
action; the coach will support the person they are coaching to
develop their own skills and knowledge.
