COSTUME DESIGN
EXT. TOWN SQUARE - DAY
The Magistrate approaches. He opens the door of the
carriage. From the dark interior COLONEL JOLL emerges
into the daylight.
He is clean-shaven and wears dark glasses with wire
frames and circular lenses. He is dressed in the same
dark-blue uniform as the Soldiers, his tunic buttoned
tightly beneath his chin, but with discreet gold-braid
insignia.
Unlike the Magistrate, whose loose, “native” clothes
are suited to the heat, Joll’s uniform is essentially
Western (or Westernizing). It is the uniform of the
Third Bureau.
