The enrollment period to elect to cash out accrued leave began on November 1 and will last for the entire
                                                      th
month of November, ending on November 30 at midnight. During this enrollment period, employees may
use the ESS wizard to elect the amount of annual leave, PTO, or vacation that they would like to cash out
        the following year.

What is a Cash Out Election?
During the Cash Out Election Period, employees who meet the eligibility criteria can choose to cash out hours
from their accrued leave to be paid out in 2024. This election must be made during the Cash Out Election
Period and is irrevocable. To determine your eligibility, please refer to your MOU or the Personnel, Polices,
Procedures Resolution (PPPR), both of which can be found on the Human Resources website.

        How to Cash Out Leave?
During the month of November make your election using the cash out wizard on ESS. You must submit your
request during the November enrollment period to qualify to cash out your accrued leave hours in 2024. No
exceptions will be made. Click HERE to access the Cash Out/Buy Back Enrollment User Guide.

How Many Hours Can Be Cashed Out?
Review you MOU or PPPR to determine how many hours you can cash out as well as the eligibility criteria.

What Happens if You Don’t Submit an Election?
If you do not submit a transaction through ESS during this enrollment period, you will not be able to cash out
your accrued leave in 2024. If you do not wish to cash out annual leave, PTO, or vacation hours, DO NOTHING.

What To Do After You Submit Your Election
After you submit your election, it will be reviewed to ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria outlined in
your MOU or the PPPR. The hours you’ve elected to cash out will be transferred from your annual
leave/PTO/vacation bucket to a separate bucket by mid-January. Once these hours have been transferred, you
may contact your department timekeeper to have these hours paid out to you. If you do not contact your
timekeeper to cash out these hours, they will be paid out in the last pay period of 2024.
