Matthew 16:15-18 (ESV)
16
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son
17
of the living God.” And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood
has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this
18
rock I will build my church, and the gates of hellshall not prevail against it.
Acts 2:36 (ESV)
Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this
Jesus whom you crucified.”
2 Peter 1:1 (ESV)
Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing
with ours by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:
Isaiah 9:6
6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us;
And the government will rest on His shoulders;
And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
In Isaiah 10:21, Jehovah Himself is called “Mighty God” using the same Hebrew word as used in this
verse to describe the prophecy of the coming of Jesus Christ, who is also to be a “Mighty God” (same
word). Therefore, Jesus is equal with the Father – both are called “Mighty God.”
There cannot be two “Mighty Gods!” Isaiah 44: 6b says “I am the first and I am the last; besides me
there is no god.” Isaiah 45:5a says “I am the Lord, and there is no other, beside me there is no God.”
Jehovah said there is only ONE God, no others! Yet Jesus is called “Mighty God.”
Zechariah 12:10
10 “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and
supplication. They will look onme, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns
for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.
YHWH (Yahweh) is speaking in this passage (see verse 1) and verses 2-12 are a single discourse. It is
YHWH or Jehovah speaking here, no question. Every major Hebrew manuscript, the Septuagint, all
major Latin versions, and most Greek manuscripts translate the phrase “look on me!” It is obvious that
in John 19:37 and Revelation 1:7 that the pierced on was Jesus Christ, yet in this verse Jehovah himself
says that will look on ME whom they have pierced.
If YHWH is the pierced on in Zechariah 12:10 and Jesus is the pierced on in Rev 1:7 and John 19:37, then
Jesus is YHWH, the eternal one…God in flesh.
