            Subjective Case:  Pronouns as Subjects

            Subjective (nominative) case pronouns are used as subjects.
               1.  Kelly and Tammy had rice and chicken for dinner.
               2.  We had rice and chicken for dinner. (pronoun as subject)
            Common Error:  Me and Kelly had rice and chicken for dinner.  Kelly and me had rice and chicken.
            Correction:  Kelly and I had rice and chicken for dinner.

            NOTE:  Always use the subjective case when following the words “than” or “as.”

            Common Error:  Tammy is taller than her.
            Correction:  Tammy is taller than she.  Tammy is taller than she (is).
            Common Error:  Tom is as tall as him.
            Correction:  Tom is as tall as he.  Tom is as tall as he (is).

                Practice 11G:  Pronoun Case. Write the pronoun that correctly replaces the subject noun or nouns.

                1. JoAnn                      is reading the Bible.
                2. Moses                     wrote Deuteronomy.
            3.  The book                       is about God’s people.
            4.  Do John and Alex                  know the story?
            5.  Kelly and I                     know the story.
            Subjective Case:  Pronouns as Predicate Nominatives (PN)

            Subjective case pronouns are also used as predicate nominatives (PN). Predicate nominatives rename the
            subject and always come after linking verbs.





                                 The teacher is her.                    The teacher is she.
                           The winners were James and me.          The winners were James and I.
                                 The winner was me.                      The winner was I.
                                                                    The teacher is Miss Tammy.
                                                               She is Miss Tammy.  The teacher is she.
