The Red Oak Police Department has started to accept applications for the newly revised Citizens
Public Safety Academy. The Citizens Public Safety Academy is a 28-30 hour block training program
designed to give the public a working knowledge of the Red Oak Police and Fire Departments. It
will consist of fourteen Thursday evening classes and one or two Saturday classes. The instruction
is comprehensive and each week separate areas of the department are covered.
Training
Robbery, Use of Force, S.W.A.T., Recruiting, Traffic Enforcement, Field Training and meeting the
Chiefs of Police and Fire are some examples of the topics that will be covered. Instruction consists
of lectures, tours and demonstrations.
Slogan
The slogan of the Citizens Public Safety Academy is “Understanding through Education”. The goal is
to educate the public about the Red Oak Police and Fire Departments and to increase the rapport
between citizens and first responders.
