The Department of Chemistry at Government College (Autonomous), Anantapur
organized a guest lecture on the topic "Power of Nanotechnology - Quantum Dots,
a Revolution in Engineering Atoms." The lecture aimed to enlighten B.Sc and M.Sc
chemistry students about the significance of nanotechnology, particularly focusing
on quantum dots, in shaping modern science and technology. The program com-
menced with opening remarks by the Department Lecturer-in-charge, U. Sivaram,
who underscored the importance of invited talks by distinguished faculty members
in enhancing students' understanding and exposure to cutting-edge research topics.
Following this, Dr. H. Pallavi, Lecturer in Microbiology and Coordinator for DBT-
STAR College Scheme, emphasized the significance of chemistry as a research ca-
reer and its promising prospects in higher education.

Dr. P . Murali Krishna, the esteemed guest speaker, commenced the lecture
by emphasizing that there are no limitations to achieving lofty goals, irrespective of
financial constraints, geographical barriers, or medium of learning. He highlighted
the pervasive role of chemistry in daily life, illustrating its involvement in various
phenomena such as the aroma of flowers, sweetness of fruits, and hormonal regula-
tion of sleep.
