The speaker delved into the recent Nobel Prize awarded for quantum dots in 2023, providing in-
sights into their synthesis, properties, and applications. Beginning with fundamental chemistry prin-
ciples, Dr. Krishna navigated through the evolution of nanotechnology and its pivotal role in di-
verse fields. He elucidated the nano concept, shedding light on the history of nanotechnology from
ancient artifacts like the Lycurgus cup to modern quantum dot technologies. The discussion further
explored the synthesis methods of quantum dots, including top-down and bottom-up approaches,

colloidal synthesis, and lithography. Dr. Krishna elucidated the unique properties of nanomaterials,
emphasizing their surface area, catalytic properties, and band-gaps, along with their applications in
solar cells, medical imaging, light-emitting diodes, and more
