2 MALAYSIA-QATAR JTC MEETING, 8 & 10 OCTOBER
2019, KUALA LUMPUR

 The 2nd Malaysia-Qatar JTC Meeting was successfully
held on 8 and 10 October 2019 in Kuala Lumpur. The
Malaysian delegation was led by His Excellency Datuk
Darell Leiking, Minister of International Trade and Industry
of Malaysia while the Qatari delegation was led by His
Excellency Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of
Commerce and Industry of the State of Qatar.

 The two sides took note of the trade volume between them
in 2018 which summed up to almost USD 1 billion. Both
sides agreed to work harder to foster the bilateral trade
relations and to aim for a long-term and sustainable
partnership.

 During the meeting, experts of Malaysia and Qatar
discussed areas of bilateral cooperation as follows:
o Trade, Investment and Industry;
o Banking and Finance;
o Agriculture and Food Security;
o Standards;
o Transport;
o Energy;
o Tourism and Culture;
o Youth and Sports; and
o Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia and
the State of Qatar.

 Both sides agreed to hold the Third Meeting of the Joint
Trade Committee in Doha, at a date to be determined by
mutual agreement through diplomatic channels.
