B. JOINT TRADE COMMITTEE (JTC) MEETING

1 MALAYSIA-QATAR JTC MEETING, 5 OCTOBER
2009, DOHA, QATAR
The first JTC meeting was held in Doha on 5 October
2009. The Malaysian delegation was then headed by
former YB Minister of International Trade and Industry
while Qatar delegation headed by His Excellency Dr
Khalid bin Mohammed Al Atiyah, Minister of International
Cooperation as Acting Minister for Qatar's Business and
Trade at that time.
Outcome of the meeting:
- The leaders of the two Delegations discussed the
developments and the volume of bilateral trade and
stressed the importance of further developing and
strengthening economic and trade relations between
the two countries.
- Both sides agreed to give emphasis to the importance
of establishing lasting and long-term economic
relations through the expansion of economic, industrial
and technical cooperation. This includes encouraging
and supporting bilateral industrial cooperation and the
joint projects that contribute to the promotion of trade.
- In the meeting, issues discussed were:
a. Investment
i. The two sides recalled the signing of of the
Economic, Technical, Scientific, Cultural
Cooperation Agreement on January 25, 1975
