• Shoes should have a non-slip sole.
• Shoes must be polished and free from marks and debris.
• Safety shoes are provided for all team members who require them due to the nature of their job. This
may include porters, maintenance, kitchen, housekeeping and any other individual as appropriate.
TIGHTS AND SOCKS
• For men, plain black socks.
• For ladies, a style of stockings as specified by their uniform requirements of a colour that is suitable
for their skin tone must be worn at all times by team members wearing either a skirt or dress.
• Socks, tights or stockings must be in good condition and free of any stains, tears or marks.
BADGES
• Name badges should be worn on the left hand side and any award badges e.g. long service, should go directly below it. Only the employee’s first name will appear on the name badge for all positions with
the exception of key personnel, whose full name may be featured on their badges.

HAIR
• For men, a neat hair style which does not touch the collar and is kept off the face.
• Hair should be clean, dry, neat and tidy with minimal use of gel and wax (no spikes or mohawks).
• For ladies, hair that is above the shoulders and cannot be tied back should be styled neatly and away
from the face. Hair that is long enough to be tied back should be tied back neatly, preferably in a bun.
• Hair accessories should be kept to a minimum and of a discreet colour, eg. clips or hairbands in black
or brown.
• All food preparation team members must wear hairnets whilst on duty.
• Hair may be dyed if it looks natural and fits with the hotel’s image. Rainbow coloured or brightly dyed
hair is unacceptable. Team members are advised to consult their supervisor before embarking on an
unusual hairstyle.
• Shaved symbols and patterns on team members’ scalp are not permitted.
• Shaved heads are only permitted if the team member was employed with a shaved head.
• Beards and moustaches are not allowed unless approved by management, or if the team member is an
Emirati or cannot cut their hair for religious reasons e.g. Sikh team members.
JEWELLERY
• Any jewellery worn must be minimal and discreet. Facial studs, nose rings or tongue studs are not permitted. Males may not wear earrings.
• For ladies, a single pair of earrings may be worn in the earlobe. Solitary earrings ie. Earring on one ear only, is not permitted.
• Plain studs or small hoops in a discreet design and tone (eg. gold or silver) for ladies are permitted. Large fashion earrings are not allowed, and team members involved in food preparation must ensure that any earrings are completely secure.
• One wedding band and engagement ring are acceptable on one hand.
• Large bulky rings and rows of rings on each hand are not permitted.
• Bracelets, bangles, necklaces are not to be worn with the uniform.
• Watches must be of a discreet design, size and tone.
• No visible tattoos are permitted.
• If jewellery is required for certain religious, ethnic or other purposes, team members should speak with
the HR Department.
MAKEUP AND NAILS
• Makeup should only be worn by ladies and should look natural, be well applied, with bright colours not permitted.
• Nails must be kept clean and neatly trimmed. Pale/natural nail polishes are acceptable for female team members who are not involved in the preparation and/or service of food and drink.
• Food and beverage preparation/service team members are not permitted to wear nail polish.
• Do not bite your nails at work, especially in guest areas!
