riving in 2011, Rev. Lang appointed Richard M. Malone as deacon and William T. Hart as trustee.
The recently formed Inspirational Choir debuted on Mother’s Day in May 2012 is an expansion of the current music program, max- imizing the worship ministry gifts to glorify God through song and praise. On September 9, 2012, the revival of the youth ministry com- menced with an official kick-off at the church. During that time thirty-three youth were reg- istered and teachers and a support staff were recruited and trained. The Christian Education Ministry was resurrected to serve as the central planning point to unite ministries as “One in Christ.” Rev. Lang introduced “One in Christ” as the official title of Mount Sinai’s Ministries.
The Inspirational Choir debuted May, 2012.
In keeping with the vision, Rev. Lang hosted a ministry meeting and training session for presidents and vice chairs of all ministries. He has also developed training materials and conducted leadership development training for the deacons and deaconesses. In 2012, along with installation of new officers, a deacon and a trustee were in training, and a Youth Ministries coordinator and Christian Education director were selected.
Mrs. Ruby H. Walden (center), and Rev. Lang cut the celebratory ribbon at the dedication ceremony of Sunday School Class #6.
In the spring of 2013, the Sunday School Class #6 was dedicated after being renovated and refurbished for the Sunday school’s preschoolers and kindergar- teners. Deaconess Ruby H. Walden sponsored and financed the project as a love gift to the church.
On Sunday, June 28, 2013, a Historical Marker was dedicated on the front lawn of the church. Rev. Lang led Mt. Sinai’s congregation, visitors, and friends in the ceremony. Remarks were given by Delegate Algie Howell and Retired Colonel Wardell Baker, who assisted in securing the marker.
Among the attendees were Pastor Emeritus Rev. Dr. Joseph H. Goode, who gave a closing prayer and Trustee Monte K. Walden Sr., chairman of the His- torical Marker Project. Local news outlets covered the event.
Rev. Lang is involved in all aspects of Mt. Sinai’s ministry. He works with the leadership team in
planning services and functions, has created a ministries’ organizational chart to achieve church growth and the first phase of the church’s web- site development has been approved.
Rev. Lang has immersed Mt. Sinai in prayer and faith through an unwavering knowledge that God continues to unite the church as “One in Christ Ministries”.
Over the years Mt. Sinai has been blessed with non-ministerial lead- ership that has served faithfully and effectively.*
