Change and Transition
Companies that effectively combine hard and soft approaches to change can reap big payoffs in profitability and productivity. You need to address the “hardware” ie. the structures and processes as well as the “software” ie the employees and how they conduct their work, in order for change initiatives to be successful. Many companies focus their strategy and plans on ‘change – the event’ while disregarding the importance of ‘change – the transition’. While ‘change – the event’ is the process or structure that is being changed, ‘change – the transition’ is the human response in dealing with that change.
