 Habits of Leaders
A habit is an action that is regular, consistent, and frequent. Habits define who you are and guide you through your day. You become your habits.
As a Leader, your actions are magnified and influence others. Even when they don’t feel like it, effective Leaders make a habit of these actions every day.
1. Envision
Ø Leaders have bifocal vision. They focus on the ultimate objective while envisioning the steps to achieve it
Ø Leaders question the status quo, embrace change and stimulate innovation
Ø Leaders rely on the strength of their inner conviction to do what is right and
are guided by core values and enduring principles to embrace change
Ø Leaders have inner vision by regularly self reflecting, examining what they’re learning, how they impact others
Ø Leaders clearly see the big picture which helps them control their emotions under pressure
2. Energize
Ø Leaders communicate what success looks like in a way that energizes and engages people. They communicate the goals and values of the vision to rally others around a common goal
Ø Leaders’ enthusiasm and passion inspires others by using positive language and setting an optimistic tone for those around them
Ø Leaders coach and motivate people to excel and achieve
Ø Leaders demonstrate resilience and persistence when faced with set backs
3. Execute
Ø Leaders execute on the vision and get results. They are doers. They ‘walk the talk’
Ø Leaders follow up on feedback and hold themselves accountable for their commitments and promises
Ø Leaders act with integrity aligning their intentions, attitude, words and behaviours. In other words, they do what they say.
Ø Leaders take responsibility for their words, actions and inactions.
Ø Leaders take calculated risks and get out of their comfort zone to learn, grow,
improve and innovate
