Impact on Building a Culture of Accountability
£ Model accountability and set an example rather than holding others accountable without holding myself equally accountable.
£ Allow people a safe place from time to time to vent their frustrations without letting justifications or excuses go unchecked or unresolved.
£ Use accountability as a way to empower people toward results rather than as a hammer to nail people.
£ Expect people to coach me when necessary even if I am not seeking their feedback.
£ Practice what I preach rather than thinking accountability is something everyone else should work on.
£ Avoid focusing solely on accountability to the exclusion of everything else — I do understand the uncontrollable.
£ Coach people to take responsibility by listening, asking, supporting, and committing to agreed upon actions.
£ Own the circumstances and analyze my activities to determine what more I can do to get results, rather than waiting for others.
