What is Performance Management
Performance is:
Competency is the ability to perform a task. A person gains competency through education, training, experience, or natural abilities. Competencies are observable or measurable knowledge and skills.
Performance is the accomplishment of a task in accordance with a set standard of completeness and accuracy. While a person may have the skills or knowledge (competency) to perform a task, it does not mean he or she will have the desire (attitude) to do so correctly (performance). Competencies give a person the ability to perform, while attitudes give a person the desire to perform.
Performance Management:
Performance management in a Continuous Improvement Environment means continually monitoring and improving the performance in terms of both results and process. This consists of the discipline, daily practices, and tools you need to establish and maintain a persistent focus on process and involving team members in improving the process.
