Social Action Committee Announcement
The CKA Social Action Committee is pleased to announce that CKA is now connected with Evergreen Habitat For Humanity (Habitat). This organization and its work to mitigate the housing situation in Clark County is totally consistent with the principles of Tikkun Olam.
There are a variety of activities that CKA members can do with Habitat. Any able-bodied person (over the age of 16) can help on one of Habitat’s “Build” Days. No construction skills are necessary, just the desire to help is needed.
The next “Faith Build” (a day when people from various religious organizations show up) is set for Friday, July 28, 2017.
At some point there may be a need to help Habitat with some of their advocacy work by showing at a City Council, County Council or other similar meeting to support a position being taken by Habitat. No actual speaking will be required.
Anyone who wants to participate in a Build Day or
wants to be on a list to show up at a meeting to
support Habitat should contact Joel R.

CKA Shows Its Pride
CKA had a great turnout at the 2017 Portland Pride parade last month. Both adult and youth members proudly represented our synagogue and marched for equality for all. We hope to have even more people at next year’s parade!
