After lunch, it’s TV time. This is Gilbert’s favourite time of the day, especially if we catch
“Whose Line Is It Anyway” on the MAKEful channel. We catch three episodes.
After that, it’s about 5pm, so I decided to return to Frank’s place, to see if he had found his old
phone. I was welcomed by Sue into a place where clearly a lot of work was going on. Now, I
should explain, at this point, the house where Frank and Sue now live used to be my Boss’s
place. He owned it with his sister (Sue), but since he was no longer here, and Sue was now
married to Frank, they had taken the place over as their residence and were intent on improving it
– which, to be honest it really, really needed. So, I was very familiar with the house, and all its
faults.
On entering the front door, I could tell immediately that Sue and Frank were serious about
making this place a more comfortable and homely place. The first thing I noticed was where two
uneven and frankly strange prints used to be hung on an angled corner wall, a brand spanking
new curved OLED flat screen TV was now living. It was striking. Beneath it two plain white
shelves had been affixed upon which some nick-knacks and ornaments had been placed. This
small improvement made a clear statement about their style and taste. I liked it a lot.
While Frank was fiddling with his old phone, Sue showed me what she had intended to do with
the main wall, which was on the left as you entered the property and which was usually left plain
and bear. This was to become a feature wall of glass mirror tiles. There’s already a large framed
mirror on the wall, so you can get a rough idea of what a completely mirrored wall might look
like. A stunning idea, I thought. Sue also told me about plans for a new Dinning area, work they
were planning to do in the strangely furnished and decorated bathroom (long story behind that!),
and work in the kitchen.
