WORLD READ ALOUD DAY
Books are keys to wisdom’s treasure;
books are gates to lands of pleasure;
books are paths that upward lead;
books are friends: come let’s read
Emilie Poulsson
It was in February 2020 that the classrooms resonated with
excited chirpy voices of the young Primary students who sat
mesmerized listening in awe to a story narration by parents,
grandparents, administration and ancillary staff in different
corners of the school. They read aloud a selection of articles,
stories and books from various subjects. These moments made
the endeavor of encouraging reading habits among children
seem much more worthwhile.
AUTHOR’S VISIT AND CHILDREN WORKSHOP
Dubai expatriate resident and author, Stephanie
Robert who has written the children’s book,
Thiago’s Shell visited the school in October
2019. She is a compassionate mother who
wrote this book for children who struggle with
their shyness and insecurities. She interacted
with KS1 students. Colourful puppets made the
story sessions more interesting. She motivated
the students to read more often and gave them
her autographed book.
