Leveraging Up!

of our team will be absent to observe those events. This anticipation
is an incredibly important way to circumnavigate any potential hold

up that employee absence will create which may hinder the progress

of an active project or even the daily flow of work. This will allow time
to use our problem-solving skills to find a solution that will cater to

both the employee and the rest of the workplace.

                   Attitude and Awareness

We all know about a little thing called, “attitude”! We deal

with it daily, which is to be expected when connecting with as many
people as Assistants do. Attitude is about an individual’s perception

of something, and their reaction to it. We must be aware of both of
those components. Understanding why an individual has a certain

perception requires knowing a little about their background and

culture, as does understanding their reaction. For example, some
cultures are raised to keep their emotions suppressed, which may

result in a miscommunication if you were raised to be more
expressive. It is important not to make snap judgments about the way

you perceive someone to be reacting – you must examine why.
Sometimes, this is as simple as asking clarifying questions. The

bottom line is to understand that communication is a little different for

everyone and giving them the chance to be understood makes a
world of difference. We can lead that wave of learning to understand.
