Th e selective demolition to the façade of the existing Bloomberg Hall • Extensive sitework included limestone and
was followed by the construction of a new and connected three-story bukstone walkways, a stone veneer retaining
foot Systems Biology addition. Th e façade consists of a terra cotta wall and an outdoor garden rock sculpture by
paneling system accented with custom aluminum shaped trim and Richard Long from Bristol, England.
panels. Th e interior includes a three-story atrium with an ornamental
                                                                           • Th e atrium is paneled with custom ash millwork

           UNIQUE PROJECT CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS
Th e Institute for Advanced Studies project presented a challenge of
requiring noise restrictions on campus during construction. With the
entire campus being a “Th ink Tank”, residential housing adjacent to the
project and the project being connected to other buildings it is easy to
see why Barr & Barr had to use it’s extensive knowledge to solve this
challenge. Logistics Planning was a key factor for this project. Th e use
of careful staging and working closely with the owner was an integral
           part to solving these issues.
