Project Description:
Privately Funded. Late design changes made it necessary to incorporate a Current Operating Status:
CHP addition to the plant. Th e schedule demands of the plant required Currently operational
the chilled water plant to be brought on line in approximately 8 weeks
after release of the slab-on-grade and the high pressure steam plant 11 Description of Claims:
weeks after slab-on-grade. Based on the size and complexity of this None
20,000 sq ft plant, these were very aggressive durations.
Fortunately, both timelines were met largely due to detailed planning
and extensive prefabrication. Th e entire building was designed using
BIM, state-of-the-art 3D modeling, which provided project requirements
specifi c to each inline component and the equipment necessary to connect
it. Th is level of design made it possible to prefabricate all the pumps
and large bore piping off -site, preassemble whenever possible and load
on skids ready for delivery – all ahead of the slab completion. Binsky
also worked alongside the engineer to review the model throughout the
design process and resolved a large percentage of constructability issues
before the fi rst piece of pipe arrived on site.
Th is CUP will suffi ciently power the new 636,000 sq foot facility when
completed.
