BPS/Sprint Superhero Leads AFJROTC
Merriam Webster defines a super hero as “a fictional hero having extraordinary or superhuman powers or an exceptionally skillful or successful person.” For almost four years, BPS “Storyboard” has been uncovering super heroes in our ranks who go above and beyond at work or in the community. Some seem to have extraordinary superhuman powers and all have been
exceptionally skillful and successful.
The March BPS/Sprint
Superhero hits on all of
these points. Lt. Col. Robin
Athey (USAF Ret) spent
20 years in the U.S. Air Force where he was an
ICBM missileer, a rocket launcher, and trained search and rescue crews, among other things. As the senior aerospace science instructor, he now leads a group of young men and women
in Melbourne High’s Air Force Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (AFJROTC). The course curriculum is dictated by the USAF and the program is inspected annually to be sure it is in compliance with USAF regulations. Melbourne High AFJROTC is one of the first units formed
in the country by a congressional act in the mid-1960s.
