AS A MEMBER OF THE MEDICAL PROFESSION:
I WILL RESPECT my patient’s wishes and his or her autonomy;
I WILL NOT JUDGE a person based on their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or disability;
I WILL GIVE back to the community through my practice of medicine;
I WILL MAINTAIN not only the health of my patients but also tend to my physical well-being and mental health;
I WILL NOT PERMIT anything to prevent me from providing the best care for my patients;
I WILL STRIVE to be the voice for my patients when they cannot speak for themselves;
I WILL ADVOCATE for reform if the changes will improve the quality of life and health outcomes of my patients;
I WILL PERSERVE the trust that my patients instill in me by creating a relationship with each patient I encounter;
I WILL PROTECT my patients’ confidentiality at all costs;
I WILL SERVE the greater good by being resilient in the face of adversity;
I WILL REMEMBER that I have been given the gift to treat humanity and will not take advantage of this privilege that I have been given;
I WILL CONTINUE to be a life-long learner by seeking opportunities to obtain knowledge from those willing to teach;
I WILL PREVENT harm to my patients by recognizing my own limitations and asking for help when needed;
I WILL SHARE the knowledge I have gained through my medical education with those who seek to learn more;
I WILL FULFILL the promises I have made in this oath so that I can honor the privilege I have been given to practice medicine and serve others.
