 Michelle Konandu
I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, the following covenant:
I will respect the medical profession and all the scientific discoveries and advancements of
those physicians in whose steps I walk. I shall strive to improve myself in everything I do and
never lose my passion for learning.
I will do all I can for those who come to me in need and will apply to the best of my ability, all
measures possible to provide the highest quality of care and treatment.
I will always remember that healing goes beyond physical symptoms, and that warmth, empathy,
and compassion may in some cases be more effective than any surgery, treatment, or drug.
I will not be ashamed to admit when I do not know the answer, nor will I fail to consult with my colleagues and peers when their skills may enhance a patient's health outcome and recovery.
I will not participate nor encourage any acts of corruption that may incur harm to another.
I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is always preferable to cure.
I will respect the privacy of my patients, for I recognize that their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know, but rather so that I may provide a relief from them. Most importantly I shall be respectful of my patients wishes, especially when dealing with sensitive matters of life and death.
I vow to do no intentional harm to any patient. I will do everything in my power to save a life where applicable, and will assume the responsibility with great humility and awareness of my limitations. Above all, I will not abuse my power or attempt to be a God.
I will provide all patients with the best level of care I know how, indiscriminate of their race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation or socioeconomic class.
I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, as well as to myself. I will make sure to take care of myself physically, emotionally, and spiritually so that I can present the best very of myself to each patient I encounter.
If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life and art, respected while I live and remembered with affection thereafter. May I always act so as to preserve the purity of this profession and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help.
