I promise that I shall uphold this Hippocratic oath to the best of my abilities.
I will honor those in my profession, especially the ones who have come before me and I will guide the ones who shall continue to practice after me. Help me to provide my life teacher with the respect that they deserve.
I will exercise the notion to do no harm to my patients and allow me banishment from my profession for causing unnecessary harm. I shall respect patient autonomy even when I disagree with the decision at hand. Allow me to become a vessel for social justice, especially to serve the underserved.
Allow me to provide a safe haven for all my patients. Everything discussed within the patient-physician interaction shall be held with the utmost respect and I will carry these secrets with me to the grave.
I promise that my personal biases will not interfere with the treatment and well being of my patients. I will self-reflect to become aware of these biases and work towards improvement.
Allow me to uphold the medical profession as one with dignity and respect.
Help me to see my colleagues as a means rather than an end. Allow me to reach out to my fellow brothers when I am unsure of how to proceed with a patient,
I will do no treatment that will financially benefit me when there are more effective treatments available. I will respect human life is all forms, from infanthood through natural death. I will not use treatments which show no humanity and are unethical. I will make sure that I treat all aspect of a patient rather than simply the disease.
I make this promise without any coercion and if I fail to uphold these standards, I accept being stripped from the medical profession.
