President’s Message
Happy Holidays to you! This is our final newsletter for 2017.
As we close out this year and look forward to 2018, we want
to thank you for your continuing support of the IAGC. Even
in the midst of this year’s challenges, the IAGC has been able
to accomplish a great deal on your behalf. Looking forward,
we have a unique window of opportunity to continue our
growing momentum and affect real, positive change for our
industry in 2018. Your support makes this possible.
Our greatest challenge still remains maintaining and improving
access for our members. As we continue the fight for your license
to operate, environmental activist groups such as NRDC, Oceana,
IFAW, and others have spent a small fortune on extensive news
media advertisements, video and social media campaigns, voter
petitions, and even lobbying efforts with Hollywood actors and
actresses to specifically oppose IAGC’s progress and the oil and gas
industry. Given their targeted campaigns and extensive resources
(e.g., NRDC has > $150 million annual budget and Oceana >
$35 million), your support is absolutely critical to our efforts.
We are working closely with our allies around the world and our
industry partners to counter the misinformation campaigns.
I cannot overemphasize how cognizant we are of these
challenging times in our industry. I sincerely appreciate your
continued support to keep IAGC active and our engagement
efforts around the world continuing on your behalf. We have
proven to be good stewards of the resources you entrust to
us, and we plan on continuing to improve on that record.
We are proud to represent you and will work to ensure you are
proud of our representation as we continue to fight for your
freedom to operate, work to strengthen the health of our industry,
and raise the visibility of our members around the world.
Nikki Martin
President, IAGC
