Lymphoma. This is about 5.4% of the accessed women, which is much higher than the average of 0.44% of all
women being diagnosed with breast cancer. With a large sample size such as 725, this increase in breast
cancer being a coincidence is slim. Thus, breast cancer has now been linked as a possible secondary cancer
from radiation therapy, specifically in women. 6
The developing of secondary cancers was also assessed by The Journal of Investigative Dermatology
in 2000. The journal’s scientists look at 319 patients with Primary Cutaneous T Cell Lymphoma that were
diagnosed between the years of 1953 and 1995. Based on cancer development averages, it was estimated that
26 of these patients would be diagnosed with a secondary cancer; however, 36 patients were diagnosed with a
different type of cancer than their primary cancer. Overall, these patients were 1.4 times more likely to
develop a secondary cancer than a healthy person was likely to be diagnosed for the first time. Specifically,
the two most abundant forms of cancer were lung cancer and another, different form of Lymphoma, which
were both well over the average range of development. Patients were 2.7 times more likely to develop lung
cancer. In particular, they were 8.5 times more likely to be diagnosed with small-cell lung cancer. The
development of a different form of HL or NHL was 7.0 times more likely. While the study was only
conducted on 319 people, the results support the claim that radiotherapy has the ability to cause secondary
cancers. 4
TRADITIONAL MEDICINE AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO MODERN MEDICINE
Many people from around the world are beginning to turn towards a more natural way to heal
themselves when they fear the possible consequences of relying solely on modern medicines. Traditional
medicine refers to using natural remedies which can heal you physically, mentally, emotionally, and
spiritually. In the case of cancer treatment, medical plants in particular can have very positive effects. These
unique plants are natural sources of drugs that are much less toxic to the human body and can be found in any
type of plant such as herbs, shrubs, and trees for example. A variety of medical plants have been found to have
anticancer molecules within them. In fact, it is estimated that between 35,000 to 70,000 medicinal plants are
