MADALYN
Whatever Talcoff did would‘ve been about Kelly. This is about you—the world seeing you--what you
do with those kids. Nobody‘s ever seen that before—not on a Broadway stage.

BENNY
I been on a million Broadway stages.

MADALYN
Your kids haven‘t. (Moment for effect) Ya don‘t see Bob Monroe offerin‘ ‗em something like that.

BENNY
(Moment) Damn you‘re good. Ya shoulda‘ been an agent.

MADALYN
Look me in the eye. I‘m on the hook here for ten grand. You don‘t say a word on that set.

BENNY
Not a peep.

MADALYN
You don‘t kvetch, you don‘t give advice, you keep your-

BENNY
I won‘t, I won‘t. (Moment) I won‘t! (Moment) Promise. (Moment) I love you, kid. (Exits)

MADALYN
(Calling after) Show me! (He‘s gone)

MADALYN
(Moment, on intercom) Ann, get me the booking office at the Palace. And get me Jean. And get me a
psychiatrist.
