Following the environmental review of the Bettr Group,
we decided to make soap products made from coffee
grounds to recycle coffee waste into sustainable and
environmentally friendly development. We decided to
implement this as 30 % of the coffee grounds are not
given to the company, A1 Environment, for recycling.

To make the coffee-based soap, we used smaller pieces
of shea butter base for ease of melting. In total, 0.45 kg
of shea butter was enough to make three thick bars of Figure 5b: Melting the shear butter.
soap. After melting the shea butter, we added essential
oils and coffee grounds. We used approximately 1/12
of a cup of coffee grounds for 1 bar of soap. We
experimented with different modifications to the
original recipe, using different amounts of essential oils
to make the soaps to make the best-scented soap.

Finally, we poured the melted shea butter into moulds
and let it cool for at least an hour, as shown in Figures
5a-d. Making soap with coffee grounds allows us to
recycle the coffee grounds, create a new item from the Figure 5c: Pouring the mixture into the moulds.
waste, and reduce the carbon emissions emitted from
            coffee grounds.
