The Revolution of Imam Hussein
burning heat of the sun.
It is safe to say that her stance after the massacre of
Karbala gave this tragedy a permanent place in history.
Zeinab did not live long after this tragedy. In this short
period of time she was able to inflame the grief in the
souls of Muslims for the cause of the martyrdom of Imam
Hussein (as).
Her sermons in Iraq after the massacre of Karbala and
her stance in the court of the Umayyad government
in Damascus (1) changed the course of Islamic history
and agitated the flames of the revolution against the
Umayyad rulers. This latter led to the collapse of the
Umayyad dynasty, and revived the remembrance of (Ahl-
ul-Bait) throughout Islamic history until today.
After the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (as), the
Umayyad dynasty faced many revolutions which broke
out against them with much devotion for (Ahl-ul-Bait)
in a few of them. The leaders of the revolutions fell in
one line and moved merely in one direction of deposing
the unjust rulers who disobeyed the creator and did not
practice the (Sunna) of the Prophet (P). These revolutions
were based on the rejection of all non-Islamic values and
campaigned in the frame work of the Islamic concepts.
They fought against oppression and launched their
campaign against cruelty and exploitation by impressing
“Not to obey a creature against his creator.”
