                Welcome back! I hope everyone’s holidays were filled with love and happiness. As we start this new
         year together let us pray for peace, healing and health for all.

                I will be visiting the 3-8th grade classrooms in the upcoming weeks to discuss the “Stand Up Against
         Hate” campaign. New Jersey Department for Civil Rights is encouraging our young people to have their voice
         heard and rise up against hate thru hashtags, sayings and artwork! Please see below for details. If you or your

                                          Slogan or Hashtag - Submit a slogan or hashtag of six
                                          words or less that encourages New Jerseyans to stand up
                                          to hate. Only one slogan or hashtag will be selected. This
                                          slogan or hashtag will become the tagline featured on all
                                          materials, including lawn signs, social media posts,
                                          posters, advertisements, and more.


                                          Artwork Design - Submit a drawing, painting, or digital
                                          design on the theme of standing up to hate. One piece per
                                          age group will be selected and be featured on social media
                                          posts, lawn signs, posters, advertisements, and more.

          The New Jersey division on Civil Rights (DCR) is hosting a “Stand Up

         Against Hate” Contest for young people throughout the state.

          The contest is meant to encourage students to “create and submit

         slogans hashtags or artwork that will raise awareness for the need to

         counter the recent rise in bias incidents and inspire young people to stand
         up against hate.


          Students who are interested in participating should submit their original
         work along with a submission form to their homeroom teacher no later than

         February 5th. Details can be found at:

          Student work will be evaluated at the school level and those chosen will

         be sent to represent SJGS in this state competition.
