Lay out the wires side by side, as shown, to mark the areas where the splices
will go. As a rule of thumb, for ½-inch (12 mm) wire, the length of tails for this
splice is 18 inches (450 mm). At the 18-inch (450 mm) spots, mark the two
wires and apply seizings (see page 166).
