possible to the service, passing over the heart or center strand. Don’t rush into
this. For now, you’re just looking and thinking ahead.
Allow the wire to straighten out, and unlay the running end strands to the
service. Bend the work into a loop again, and mark the spot on the standing part
where the wire strand will enter. Let the wire straighten out once again, and
clamp it into a vise with the unlayed strands pointing away from you. Apply
superglue to the ends of the seven strands. Let the glue dry completely.
At the marked point, insert the marlinspike into the wire from left to right, as
shown in the illustration. Take care to go over the heart and under three strands.
If this is difficult, take a turn of the wire around your wrist. The space created as
the strands unlay should be enough to insert the marlinspike. Rotate the
marlinspike one full circle around the heart and down the wire (A). Leave the
marlinspike in the wire.
Remove the work from the vise and loop it over a sturdy cup hook, door hinge
pin—anything located at a comfortable working height that will hold.
