• Filling Log File – The filling log file will give the most clear-cut answer to the question of whether
the part fills completely. To find this information, open the log file and go to the bottom of the
calculation, where the “Fill %” should reach 100%. If the simulation does not get to 100%, then a
short shot has occurred and an explanation for the reasoning will be shown.
2.5.2.2 Is the Flow Balanced?
Balancing the flow of the material to the different regions of the part is important to ensure the gates are
positioned properly, that the part is designed properly and that the material has been selected properly.
A balanced flow will allow for the material to fill the part evenly, hitting all end of fill regions at a similar
time.
To evaluate flow balance, look at:
• Melt Front Time
o In the previous questions, the flow was evaluated to see if the part is filled. In this
question, the progression of flow is more important, where the goal is to fill the part
evenly, allowing the end of filling regions to hit around the same time.
