Becket hitch







  This is identical in layout to the sheet bend (see page 25), but replaces the bight in that knot with

  a pre-formed eye (becket).


  Tie a simple overhand or thumb knot as a stopper in the end of the rope (1). Pass it up through the
  becket and around the back (2), then bring it forward once more to tuck beneath its own standing
  part (3). Pull on the standing knot to tauten (4).
