Hammer hitch







  Use this easily applied hitch to haul a carpentry hammer aloft for work up a ladder or on

  scaffolding.


  Begin by tying a slipped overhand knot (see page 293) in one end of a cord (1, 2). Take the cord
  around the hammer’s peen (3), and across its own standing part, so that the slipped overhand is
  wedged securely between the claws of the hammer (4).
