at family gatherings than to condone by our
silent presence and accepting demeanor the
promulgation of heretical religious beliefs
that are being discussed. It has been said that
the number one sin of many Christians is
silence because, as a dear pastor friend of
mine has so succinctly articulated, “Silence
gives consent.” So true!
Epilogue
Many Christians have turned family into a
god to be accommodated, served, and
worshipped above all else, but God says in
Exodus 20:5 that He is a jealous God, and He
says in verse 3, “Thou shalt have no other
gods before me.” While we love our family
dearly, we must never allow our love for
